Honorable George E. Vavoulis
Mayor of the City of St. Paul
St., Paul, Minnesota
My dear Mayor Vavoulis:
This office is in receipt of information to the effect the
Chicago and North Western Railway Company has stated its
intention to the Interstate Commerce Commission to dis-
continue the Rochester "400" operating between Mankato,
Minnesota and Chicago, Illinois; also the "400" operating
between Chicago and the Twin Cities.
The discontinuance of these trains, I believe, would not
be in keeping with "convenience and necessity" of the
public and most certainly would have adverse effects on
railroad employees.
Therefore, I respectfully r @quest that you, as Mayor,
would approach the Council with the thought in mind.that
St. Paul would enter'a protest to the Interstate Commerce
Commission in opposition to the discontinuance of these
trains, and request kvzj- hearings.
It would be appreciated if a copy -of your protest would
be sent to the Minnesota Railroad and Warehouse Commission.
Sincerely,
E. E. Berglund, Sec.- Treas.
