Loss — Resolved, That the proper City offi- cers are hereby authorized to pay cer- tain employes in the Department of Parks and Recreation nd Public Build- ings for extra en3ployient as described in the resolution. Adopted by the Council January 18,' 1963. Approved January 18, 163. (January 26, 1963) 4 WHEREAS., 'The Commissioner of parks and Recreation and Public Buildings has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the_period from January 1 to 15,,;1963, which rendered necessary the employment Of certain Employees of the Department cf Parks & Recreation & Public Buildings for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work: °.Supervision, operation, maintenance, care and protection of public parks and play - grounds and of their facilities. And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the follow- ing facts and circumstances: Seasonal requirements for protection of public property and pursuit of departmental activities, such-as: Civic events and munic- ipal sports and playgrounds programs rega.ired increased time and effort of an unforeseen ,-but temporary nature; breakdown of equipment necessitated immediate repairs; during the heating season, the plant for the Zoo and ,Greenhouse must be tended constantly; flooding time at the playground skating rinks is regu- lated by weather and temperature; and sanding 'and snow plowing on week ends. THEREFORE" BE IT RESOLVED, That the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance with the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance No& 6446.
