Holland — Resolved, That the proper city offi- cers are hereby authorized td pay certain employes in the Department of Water for extra employment as described in the resolution. Adopted by the Council January 16, 1963. Approved January 16, 1963. (January 19, 1963) WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter the existence of an emergency during the period from January 1st to January 15th, 1963 inclusive, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Water Department for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work: 1) Repairing equipment, various stations. 2) Working extra shifts, various stations. 3) Inspecting new main installed by contractor. C4 Driving country crew to and from work (5 Repairing large water mains. (6) Repairing 6" compound meter at 1975 University Avenue. AND WHEREAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circumstances: (1) Necessary to do work during low consumption hours. (2) Absence of employees on regular shifts. (3) Necessary to do inspecting after day's work by contractor. (4) On account of scattered work locations. (5) In order to put large mains back in service as soon as possible. (6) Meter serves large motel and water could not be shut off until late in the evening. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance wit h the provisions of the Council's Salary Ordinance, Ordinance, No. 6446.
