An ordinance prohibiting parking or
stopping of any vehicle in areas where tree -
trimming operations are in progress and an
ordinance providing for the erection of signs
indicating the location of which such work
is being carried out and an ordinance pre-
scribing penalties for all violations of the
parking restrictions herein enacted. This
is an emergency ordinance rendered necessary
for the preservation of the public peace,
health and safety.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. No person, firm or corporation shall
park any vehicle or allow any vehicle to remain parked or
stopped upon any street or alley in the City of St. Paul
within one hundred (100) feet of any place where tree -
trimming is being performed by the Department of Parks, Rec-
reation and Public Buildings; and the Commissioner of Parks,
Recreation and Public Buildings is hereby authorized to pro-
cure signs of such size as to be easily legible indicating
that tree - trimming work is in progress and that parking is
banned within one hundred (100) feet of the location of
such work; and the said Commissioner is further authorized
to place or cause to be placed a sufficient number of such
signs in each and every location where tree - trimming is
being or is about to be carried out so as to inform the
public of the parking restriction in the area.
Section 2. Any person, firm or corporation violating
the provision of Section 1 hereof by parking or allowing to be
parked or stopped any vehicle in a prohibited location after
such location has been identified by the signs herein author-
ized shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction
thereof may be punished by a fine not to exceed One Hundred
Dollars ($100.00) or by imprisonment not to exceed ninety (90)
days.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be a part of the
City of St. Paul Legislative Code and shall be inserted in
the permanent edition of the same at the next revision thereof
becoming a subsection of Chapter 144.04 of the St. Paul Legis.
lative Code.
Section 4. This ordinance is hereby declared to be
an emergency ordinance rendered necessary for the preservation
of the public peace, health and safety.
Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be
in force upon its passage, approval and publication.
