1 WHEREAS, the Urban Libraries Council has offered the Saint Paul Library Agency a
2 grant of $2,000 to enable it to send individuals to the Learning in Lzbraries: A National Ca11 to
3 Action conference in New York from October 19 - 20, 2006; and

5 WHEREAS, the money will cover airfare, meals, transportation to and from the
6 conference, hotel, and registration for the conference far three people; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that attendance at the conference by library staff will
have a public purpose as it is directly related to their employment; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the City thanks the Urban Libraries Council for its generous gift of
funds for airfare, meais, transportation to and from the conference, hotel, and registration for the
conference;and
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City accepts the gift of the funds, and appropriates
them to the purpose of airfare, meals, transportation to and from the conference, hotel, and
registration for the conference costs for Marnie Wells, Second Shift Coordinator, Karen Kolb
Peterson, Youth Services Coordinator and Vallay Vano, Education Director to travel to the
Learning in Libraries.• A National Call to Action conference.
