I I -* ij WHEREAS, Additions which might prove to be necessary in the Improvement described as the Grading of SHORT LINE ROAD from the Hamline Avenue Connection to St. Clair Avenue and SHEPARD ROAD from Elway Street to Rankin Street, Comptroller's Contract L- 6176 -27, Ashbach Construction Company, contractor, have been provided for in the specifications and WHEREAS, Continuing traffic studies made of the SHORT LINE ROAD subsequent to the contract award for the construction of this project showed the need for an additional traffic lane south from the Hamline Avenue connection and the widening of the grade for this traffic lane would require the construction of a retaining wall at Portland Avenue and Syndicate Street to maintain the continuity of the street intersection, and WHEREAS, The right -of -way for adequate back slopes at the ramp connection between Short Line Road and St. Clair Avenue was not available and the slopes as con- structed under this contract were too steep for the material encountered making a retaining wall at this location also necessary, and WHEREAS, The construction of these retaining walls in connection with the aforesaid grading contract is considered necessary and advantageous and comprise the follow - inR additions: ' ADDITIONS 254 cu. yds. of IA6,Econcrete footings 267 cu. yds. of 3Y6'concrete walls 34,830 pounds of reinforciug,`bars and WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Public Works has that the amount of $44,384.40 is the correct now therefore, be it @ $ 76.50 $ 19,431.00 @ 76.50 20,425.50 @ 0.13 4,527.90 Total $ 44,384.40 agreed with the above named Contractor sum to be added to the above contract, RESOLVED, That the City of St. Paul through its City Council approves the foregoing Addition made in accordance with the specifications in the amount of $44,384.40, _said sum to be added to the consideration named in the contract known as Comptrol- ler's Contract L- 6176 -27, and which amount is to be financed from Municipal State Aid F ndds COUNCIuLMEk Adopted by the Council� 2 5 1964 19— Yeas Nays �Dalgit's�� Holland Loss .- Mortms Peterson Rosen Mr. President, Vavoulis 10M 6-62 AUG 2 5 1964 S� pproved 19- Tn Favor u Mayor A gainst DUPLICATE TO PRINTER . - CITY OF ST.
