PAUL COUNCIL NO. _ OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK (%TUNCI LUTION- GENERAL FORM A PRESENTED BY DATEL1lSi.lslJ Z` COMMISSIONE WHEREAS, the City Council, under Council File No. 217886 approved May 5, 1964, indicated its intention to inaugurate a payroll system whereby City employees shall be paid in bi- weekly rather than semi - monthly intervals beginning on or about January 1, 1965, and WHEREAS, this intention is currently being programmed on data processing equipment, and 3• WHEREAS, there are certain deductions from individual employees` checks which must be accomplished, among which is the deduction for the Public Employees Retirement Association, and WHEREAS, the accomplishment of this deduction can be done more economically and efficiently by deducting 6'per cent of the first $4,800.00 of an employee's earnings which is the method used under Social Security and State Pensions and is the normally accepted practice for the vast majority of pension deductions, therefore be it RESOLVED, that beginning on or about January 1, 1965, there be deducted from those employees' earnings which are subject to P.E.R.A. deductions, 6 per cent of the first 4,800.00 of an individual.employee$s earnings, in compliance with State Law establishing the Public Employees Retirement Association.
