WHEREAS, Mahlon Thomas, an employe of the Department
of Public Safety, Bureau of Police, was injured in a third
party accident on January 16, 1964, while engaged in the
performance of his duties for said Bureau; and
WHEREAS, the City has incurred medical expense in
the amount of $705.10 therefor, and said employe was
disabled for work for a period of time, being paid salary
in the amount of $565.00 therefor; and
WHEREAS, a settlement has been negotiated between
said employe and the other party involved in said accident,
in the total amount of $1,270.10, and from said sum the
amount of $317.53 has been deducted representing one - fourth
as attorneyslfees, leaving a net settlement to the City of
$952.57, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the proper City officers are hereby
authorized to accept and endorse the check of The Travelers
Insurance Company in the sum and amount of $952.57 and
payable to Mahlon Thomas and City of St. Paul-and Peterson
& Popovich Attorneys at Law, to accept said sum in the
amount of $952.57, $419.13 to be credited to the police
salary fund, and $533.44 to the Workmen's Compensation fund
and, further, to execute any necessary releases therefor.
