AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 661+ ENTITLED:
"AN ORDINANCE CREATING AND ESTABLISHING A BUREAU OF
MUNICIPAL EQUIPMENT TO BE OPERATED UNDER THE DIRECTION
OF THE COMMISSIONER OF PUBLIC WORKS AND AN ADVISORY
COMMITTEE CONSISTING OF THE MAYOR AND COMPTROLLER;
PLACING THE ROLLING EQUIPMENT BELONGING TO THE CITY
UNDER THE CONTROL OF SAID BUREAU; AUTHORIZING THE ES-
TABLISHMENT OF RULES AND REGULATIONS IN CONNECTION WITH
THE TRANSPORTATION OF CITY EMPLOYES AND OFFICIALS, AND
REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 5602, APPROVED MAY 25, 1921.
THIS IS AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE RENDERED NECESSARY FOR
THE PRESERVATION OF THE PUBLIC PEACE, HEALTH, AND SAFETY.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY'OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:-
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 6614, approved December 30, 1925,
as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking
therefrom Section 3-and by inserting in lieu thereof the following:
"Section 3. From and after the passage of this ordinance,
all rolling equipment owned and-used by the various depart-
ments of the City, except such as is owned and used by the
Department of Public Safety or for use for park police service
by its Department of Parks, Playgrounds, and Public Buildings,
and except those vehicles and rolling equipment owned and
used by the Water Department of the City of Saint Paul, and
no new rolling equipment shall be purchased by said City with-
out the approval of said Bureau, except such rolling equipment
as may be purchased by said City for use by its Department of
.Public Safety or for use for park police service by its Depart-
ment of Parks, Playgrounds, and Public Buildingsyor by the
Water Department of the City of Saint Paul."
Section 2. Thatisaid Ordinance No. 661+, as amended, be and the
same hereby is further amended by striking therefrom Section 8
thereof and by inserting therein in lieu of said stricken section
the following:
"Section 8. All repairs to City -owned rolling equipment,
except such thereof as is or hereafter shall be used by said
Department of Public Safety and said Water Department of the
City of Saint Paul and except as such thereof as now is or
hereafter shall be used by said Department of Parks, Play-
grounds, and Public Buildings for park police service, shall
be deemed covered by this ordinance and shall be made under
the direction of said Bureau of Municipal Equipment under
such rules and regulations as shall be prescribed by the
Commissioner of Public Works and approved by resolution of
the Council."
