RESOLVED, upon the pertinent appeal, under the Zoning
Code, by;Richard Rrois as the owner of the sub �jeat real estate,
situate in the City of Saint Paul, zoned in "A Residence District,
under the Zoning Code, and described as follows:
Lot 9, Block 4, Lanes Phalen Grove Add., St. Paul,
Minn., according to the plat thereof on file and
of record in the office of the Register of Deeds
in and for Ramsey Cdunty, Minnesota;
and lopated on the south side of Sherwood Avenue between Mendota
Street and Forest Street, that the provisions of said Zoning Code
hereby are determined and varied as and to the extent necessary
therefor, and the building setback line fdr said real estate, in
respect of the south line of Sherwood Avenue, upon which the same
abuts, hereby is established as a line drawn across said real estate
parallel thereto and 17 feet distant from said south line of said
Sherwood Avenue.

Dear Sir:
This is in reply to the referral of the appeal of Richard Krois to
establish a 17 foot building line setback from Sherwood Avenue for
property located on the south -side of Sherwood Avenue between Men-
dota and Forest Street which is described as"Lot 9, Block 4, LaneTs
Phalen Grove Addition. The - property is zoned "Af1'residence.
The applicant is seeking Council approval of a 17 foot building line
setback to permit the erection of an 8' x 4' addition to the front of
the existing dwelling. The established building line in the block
is 25 feet and the residence now has a setback of 21 feet. It should /
be pointed out that the applicant has submitted a letter of "approval
from both of the adjoining owners.,
The Board of Zoning considered this matter at its regular meeting
on July 23, 1964. The staff reported that it did not appear that
the proposed addition would have a detrimental effect on the adjoin-
ing properties and the granting of the appeal would not deviate sub-
stantially from the purpose and intent of the Zoning Ordinance. In
consideration of these factors, the Board of Zoning recommends the
granting of the appeal as requested. The City Council granted an in-
formal approval of this request on August 6, 1964.

on the front of the house, which would project out four (4)
feet and be eight (8) feet wide. With this entry on the front
of the house, it would be directly in line with the two houses
east of it - -- both of them having front entryways.
