F. 219902, approved September 8, 1961, provided for taking.a part of Block 82, Dayton & Irvine's Addition, for the Summit Mall Approach to the Enlarged Capitol Grounds; and WHEREAS, Said Block 82 comprises a part of what is commonly known as "Summit Parka, which is located diagonally across from the Cathedral and-is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings; and WHERE.,AS, It is proposed to allow a nominal award for the taking of said land on condition that other lands will be dedicated for park pur- poses when the final plans for this area have been developed; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That in consideration of the taking of part.of.said_Block 82,.Dayton &.Irvine's Addition, as shown on Ex- hibit A attached hereto and made a part hereof, for a nominal sum,-the Council of the City of St. Paul hereby declares its intent to dedicate for park purposes the areas substantially as shown in green on Exhibit B, attached hereto and made a part hereof, when the final street and highway plan in-this area has been completed. Said department has indicated their willingness'to accept a nominal- award for this taking, if they can be assured that future dedi- cations for park purposes will provide park areas to replace the areas taken. In discussing -this matter with Mr. Shepard he pointed out that three areas, shaded in green on Exhibit B attached, will be available for park use when the street and, highway plan in this area has been completed.
