Celebraring Community Gardening Day in the City of Saint Paul
4 WHEREAS, the Ciry of Saint Paul is home to neazly 50 community gazdens; and
6 WHEREAS, Community gazdens beautify our neighborhoods, strengthen block clubs, and enhance
7 community crime prevention efforts; and

9 WHEREAS, Community gardens provide opportunities for cross-cultural and inter-generational learning;
10 and
11
12 WHEREAS, Community gardens exist in every ward of the City of Saint Paul, crisscrossing our City from
13 the Totem Town Community garden in Battle Creek to the Saint Anthony Park Community Garden or
14 from the Highland Park Perennial Garden to the Hmong Community Garden on the East Side; and
15
16 WHEREAS, The Pazade of Community Gardens will occur in the Twin Cities Metro azea on August 19,
17 2006, giving neighbors a better chance to know about community gazdening;
18
19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council commends the hundreds of
20 Saint Paul residents who participate in community gardens for their valuable contributions to our City; and
21
22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that August 19, 2006 shall be declared as "Community Gardening Day" in
23 the City of Saint Paui.
