WHEREAS, the 2005 and 2006 adopted Capita] Improvement Budgets collectively include funding in the amount � 1,306,000 to
renovate the 9,043 square foot Highland Pool Bath House building, upgrade the site's wading pool, and install a splash pad
feature; and

5 WHEREAS, a facility assessment completed by Hagen, Christensen and McIlwain Architects concluded that the Bath House
6 facility was in a greater state of disrepair than originally thought; and
8 WI-TEREAS, current project cost estimates to complete the project as originally submitted are in excess of $1,70Q000; and
10 WHEREAS, Pazks and Recreation staff, based on Hagen, Christensen and McDwain Architects assessment, have deduced that
11 renovation of the existing Highland Pool Sath House would not be an efficient use of City resources; and

13 WHEREAS, within the terms of the established budget it is believed thaC significant improvements can be made to the
14 Highland Pool site; and

16 WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation requests that the scope of the project be redefined as follows: the wading pool upgrade,
17 installation of a splash pad, protection from water infiltration for the underground mechanical room, and minor building repairs; and
18
19 WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation intends to submit a Capital Improvement Bond funding request for the
20 reconstruction / replacement of the Highland Pool Bath House building as part of its 2008-2009 program request; and now
21
22 THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the scope of the Highland Pool Bath House re�ovation project be revised as
23 previously described.
