The purpose of this vacation is to limit traffic to those two property owners whose property abuts the alley, since changed traffic patterns have contributed to this alley becoming a traffic shortcut. Properry on the a11ey has also been plagued with gz�ti, therefore petitioner would like to fence the alley at both ends. There will be no building on the site. I am pretty sure these spaces must remain to meet the zoning requirement for parking for the businesses to the north of the alley. So if the alley is vacated, access to these spaces must be maintained. If barriers are put up at the ends of the alley to stop thru traffic, they cannot be fuced barziers. They would have to be gates tfiat couid be opened. 1 think that Public Works will want these gates set in at least a car length (18') from the public sidewalk to cars can stop to open the gate without biocking the sidewalk.
