in behalf of said City and its people, this Resolution is adopted
and recorded, in commemoration of the late Ma�or General Melvin J.
Maas, former resident of said City, and in perma.nent attestation
of his extensive and efficacious career of public service, both
as Representative in the Congress of the United States of America,
from the 4th District of Minnesota, and as a member of our Nation' s
Armed Services where he rendered valiant service, in Wor]d War I,
World War II and in the Korean Conflict, in perseverence of his
dedication to our Nation� its Constitutional form of government
� and the Cause of Freedom; that hereby there is bestowed upon him,
posthumously, this '�Citation for Extraordinary Service in Legislative
� and Military Affairs" ; and that the City Clerk hereby is authorized
and directed to cause a certified copy of this Resolution to be
