PAUL COUlaca OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK FILE NO COUNCIL RESOLUTION — GENERAL FORM r• � PRESENTED BY COMMISSIONER DATE WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul has heretofore received a report from Mr. Warren R. Hinze, Chairman of the Junior College Site Committee, City of Saint Paul,' which committee was appointed by the Mayor for the purpose of making a study and recommendations to both this Council and the Junior College Board established pursuant t© the provisions of Session Laws of Minnesota for 1963, ChEpter 837 and which Board is charged with the responsibility of locating State junior colleges throughout the State of Minnesota; and WHEREAS, said Junior College Site Committee has hereto- fore submitted to the Junior College Board its report which, among other things, recommends location of a junior colleep in the east area of the City of Saint Paul and points up the-fact that location of a junior college in said area would partially satisfy a tremendous need for such an institution in that area, since there are not less than nine high schools and over 11,000 students of such schools who might be served by such institution; and such report further points out that because of the accessibility to a junior college located in the eastern area of Saint Paul, a tremendously greater number of potential students could be, served in that area; and WHEREAS, this Council is fully cognizant of the great need for such an institution in the eastern area of Saint Paul and wishes to convey to the State College Board its interest and concern for location of a junior college in said area because of the great need for such an institution in that area; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby expresses its full and complete support of the position expressed by the Junior College Site Committee, City of Saint Paul, in its report to the State Junior College Board, and urges said Board to locate a junior college in the eastern area of the City of Saint Paul; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Council hereby expresses COUNCILMEN Yeas Nays FO PROV Dalglish � Holland Asst.
