RESOLVED, That notice is -Gaken of a recently insti�uted an.d
now pendinggas rate proceeding before the Federal Power Commission
entitled� �dIn the Matter of Area Rate Proeeeding Hugoton�d�rls�
Area -�-Docket No. AR 64-lAa:� that City of Saint Paul� through this
Co�.neil� has �urisdiction therefor and do�s regulate rates of
charges. for the furnishing of natural gas to consumers� in the
City of Saint Paul� by Northern States Power Company� the sole
public utility supplier operating as permittee under City of Saint
Paul Permit Ordinance all such natural gas furnishe� to consumers
in the City of Saint l�aul by said Northern States Power Companp
being purchased by it from its pipe line supplier� Northern Natural
Gas Company� under rates prescribed and authorized by said Commis�ion�
and an estimated 65 per cent of such natural gas having been and now
being purchased by said Northern Natural Gas Company from its
suppliers therein and from said Iiugoton-�mac�3arlc,� Area; that the rates
of charges for natural gas supplied fPOm said Hugoton-Az�cZarko Area�
as prescribed by said Commission and paid by said Northern Natural
Gas Company will have a controlling effect upon rates of charges
for na�ural gas ultimately supplied as aforesaid to consumers in
the Citp of Sain� Paul; and that it is imperative�:in the premises�
and in the p�.blic interest that said City intervene in said proceed-
ing� a.n.d
RESOLVED FIJRTHEFi, That the Corporation Counsel may draft- and
file the necessarp doeuments for ench interve�.tion.
