WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities h s reported, in accor-
, dance with Section 53 of the City Char�er, the existence of
an emergency during the period from January 1�6, 1964 to
January 31, 1964 inclusive which rende�ed necessary the
employment of certain employees of the�Department of Public
Utilities for more than eight hours pe day or forty hours
per week in doing the following work:
Making air pollution tests,
Rerouting buses in downtoc�n area,
Making emergency repairs to street lighting circuits,
and
WHERE�S, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
Work necessary at irregular hours to complete tests
for federal agency,
Winter Carnival activities interrupt�ng normal bus
routes, -
Overtime work required to restore street lighting
service immediately for public safety,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby au,thorized to pay
the employees who performed such work iri accordance with
the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance
No. 6446. `
