WHEREAS, It is necessary to have speciallp trained men to act as golf professionals at . the Como, Highland and Phalen golf courses, and _ � WHEREAS, Such special training requires: 1. Ability to repair golf clubs and advise in their use; � 2. Ability to oversee and regulate the playing upon an assigned course; 3. Ability to advise in connection with the construction and maintena.nce of fairways and bunkers; �� 4. Ability to organize, train and direct caddies; S. �Experience in professional golf work and in teaching golf; and WHEREAS, Frank Fiorito, Winton Christianson and Mitch Tardiff possess the required ability and have the required training, and the said Frank Fiorito, Winton Christianson and Mitch Tardiff are willing to enter into contracts with the � City of Saint Paul to act as golf professiona.ls at the Como, Sighland and Phalen courses, respectively; the professiona.ls at Phalen and Como will re- ceive $2,500, respectivelq, for the season beginning April 1, 1964, and end- ing October 31, 1964. Due to the increased golf plaq at flighland golf course, the professional there will receive $3,000 for the same period; the pro- fessionals at all three courses will in addition have the privilege of re- , taining receipts for teaching and the sale and repair of golf equipment; and ! WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings has recommend- _ ed that contracts be entered into with the said Frank Fiorito, Winton Christianson and Mitch Tardiff upon the aforesaid basis, with the provision that the contracts may be cancelled by the Commissioner of Parks and Recrea- tion and Public Buildings, for cause, upon twenty-four hours' written notice to the respective golf professionals; therefore, be it RESOLVED: That thelCouncil concurs in the recommendation of the Commissioner sf Parks _ . and Recreation and Public Buildings, and the Corporation Counsel is hereby authorized to draw the contracts therefor, and the proper City officers are authorized to ex�cute the same on behalf of the City.
