WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Public Works has reported, in
accordance with Section 53 of `�he City Charter, the existence of
an emergency during the period �`rom March 1 to March 15, 196�+
' which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees
of the Department of Public Works for more than eight hours per

Tending fires at Asphalt Plant on Sundays & holidays

Servicing municipal equipment
Making up sidewalk assessment reports
Inspeciting ci�y improvement jobs
Watching Municipal Equipment during off hours '
And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following
facts and circumstances:
�T Necessity of answering all emergency repair calls,+ keeping �
city streets free from debris, keeping fires at Asphalt Plant
continuously, taking complaints at City Yards, completing plans
& specifications for grading & paving �jobs, need for grade �3rofiles
and house numbers, completing sidewalk assessment reports, keeping
city equipment in good runnin� condition, and inspecting work done
by contractors on street & sidewalk works.
. THEREF'ORE BE IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers are
hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in
accordance vrith the provisions of the Council ' s salary Ordinance
No. 6�+�+6.
