RESOLUTION
OF SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA

Resolution Recognizing Thomas L. Davenport II,
Saint Pau['s 2005-2006 Narional Urban Fellow
WIIEREAS, the Saint City Council is an ardent supporter of the National Urban Fellows Program, which
was founded in 1969 by the National League of Cities and the U.S. Conference of Mayors, with substantial
assistance from the Ford Foundation and Yale University; and
WHEREAS, the National Urban Fellows Program is the premier organization preparing men and women of
all racial and ethnic backgrounds to be accomplished, courageous and committed leaders in public and
private organizations through the combination of graduate level academic coursework at Baruch University
and the practical field experience of the mentorship; and

WHEREAS, Thomas L. Davenport II is the second Fellow sponsored by the Saint Paul City Council and the
first by the Bremer Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Thomas brought to the City of Saint Paul not only his keen intellect, wit and leadership skills,
but also his financial and analytical strength; and
WHEREAS, Thomas has been instrumental in helping the efforts of Sustainable Saint Paul in establishing its
work program, helping the City work towards becoming a Sierra Club's Cool City, and securing the 2006
Green Guide's Top Ten Green Cities in the United States (#4); and
WHEREAS, Thomas will soon be departing to finish his Master's Degree in Public Administration at Baruch
University in New York City, only to return to school in the fall with the Robert Toigo Foundation
Scholarship at the University of Chicago School of Business; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council gratefully acknowiedges the excellent work done by the
National Urban Fellows Program in general, and Thomas L. Dauenport lI in particular; and be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council herewith declares Wednesday May 10, 2006 Thomas L.
Davenport II Day in the City of Saint Paul.
