06-419CouncilFile# O�O - "7j g Green Sheet # �� RESOLUTION CITY OF SAINT PAUL, NIIl�TNESOTA Presented By 1� WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has endorsed and encouraged its employees to participate in professional organizations established to promote excellence in post-secondary education; and 4 5 WHEREAS, the General Advisory Counsel of the Saint Paul College advises the 6 president of the College on policy, management and budgetary mattexs and the College provides 7 a link to the workforce, economic development and education interests of the City; and 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 WHEREAS, Saint Paul College was recently accepted into the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP); and WHEREAS, AQIP is an alternative process through which an already accredited institution can maintain its accreditaxion from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Associafion of Colleges and Schools, and as a result, Saint Paul College is now required to send a team to an AQIP Strategy Forum to be held in Chicago, Illinois on May 17-20, 2006; and WHEREAS, City employee Readus Fletcher is currently Chairman of the General Advisory Counsel serving at the request of the Mayor, and as his role as Chairman, he has been invited to attend this Strategy Forum; and i30W, TFiEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City of Saint Paul hereby accepts a donation from the Saint Paul College to pay far Mr. Fletcher's travel costs and hotel and food expenses and that such donation shall be deemed to be a gift to the City in compliance within the meaning of Sections 41.03 and Chapter 41 of the Administrative Code; and FURTHER RESOLVED, that this donation to pay for the expenses of Readus Fletcher to attend the AQIP Strategy Forum is determined to be for a public purpose.
