PAUL COUNCIL NO OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK FILE CIL RESOLUTION - GENERAL FORM i I DAB WHEREAS, The City Council has provided each employee of the City of St. Paul with certain benefits, including contributions to certain pension plans, and WHEREAS each employee with the below- mentioned exceptions does belong I and regularly contributes to a pension plan; and WHEREAS, due to unusual circumstances there are three city employees who alone are in the position of being unable to participate in any one of the pension plans available to all other employees; and WHEREAS these three employees (in exempt or elective positions) are pre- cluded from membership in the..Public Employees Retirement Association by virtue of a vested interest in the St. Paul Police Relief Association (pension plan) and each employee by virtue of his employment must contribute, and has contributed, 410 pf his salary to said St. Paul Police Relief Association for a period of approxi- mately 14 years, and WHEREAS there is no recovery factor of these monies from such fund in event of said employee's separation from the Police service, and WHEREAS the City of St. Paul through its tax levy contributes to each public pension association to which its employees belong, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Council body herebv requests that the COUNCILMEN Yeas Nays Dalglish Holland Loss Favor Meredith Peterson J Against Rosen Mr. President, Vavoulis 10M "2 PRESENTED BY COMMISSION .• I I CITY OF ST. Any member with ten years or more of service with the bureau.: f of police of the City of Saint Paul, who is elected to office in said city or appoint- ed to a position not in the classified service in said city, may remain an active t member while in one or the other of the aforesaid positions for a period of time not in excess of the years of said member's active service with the Saint Paul bureau of police and subject to the provisions of this act as if he were on active duty with said bureau of police. r Sec. 2. Any member who qualifies under Section 1 hereof may contribute to the pension fund an amount equal to what he would have contributed had he remained on duty with said bureau of police from and after June 1, 1960, and thereby increase his period of memb6rship. Sec. 3. This act shall become effective only after its approval by a majority of the governing body of the City of Saint Paul, and upon compliance with the provisions of Minnesota Statutes Section 645. 021.
