1 WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department, received a$80,000 grant contribution from Target
2 Corporafion to support the Cold Case Unit; and

4 WIIEREAS, the City Council accepted this contribution on June 8, 2005 (council file #OS-502); and
5
6 WIIEREAS, a 2006 financing and spending plan needs to be established for the amount remaining
7 from this contribution; and
8
9 WHEREAS, The Mayor pursuant to Secfion 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does
10 certify that there are avai[able for appropriation Funds of $23,300 in excess of those estimated in
I1 the 2006 budget; and

13 WHEREAS, The Mayor recommends that the following addition be made to Yhe 2006 budget:

�b'HEREAS, Target is committed to giving back to communifies in which they operate stores through
projects such as promoting early childhood edecation, family violence prevention, and also through
its Target and Biue program partnering to promote safe and healthy communities. In addition to
TargeY's annual commitmenY of $400,000 to the American Red Cross, Target has donafed
$1 million to Tsunami Itelief Efforts. Target received tLe American Red Cross highest honor, the
Circle of Hemanitarians; and -
WHEREAS, the public purpose of this donation is to assist fhe department in its endeavors to
solve cold cases and pursue criminals; and
BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts this generous donafion and extends its sincere
thanks to Target for alt its efforts in the community.
