WHERF.,�S, The Commissioner of Finance has reported, in accordaace
with S.ection 53 of the City Charter, the existeace of an emergeacy
durfng the period from February 1 through Februazy 15, 196l�, which
rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Depart- �
ment of Finance for more than eight hovrs per day or forty hours per
week in doing the following work: preparation of reports for city
acquisitions, spreading assessments and checking assessment spreads
arid preparing auditor�s report, aad bringing transfer book records
up to date; and .
WHERF'.�1S, This emergency arose by reason of the foll�ring facts
and circumstances: increased volumn of condemnations for street widen-
iags and apenings, two vacancies in the Bvreau of Receipts and Dis-
bursements, and a shortage of experiencec3 assessment clerks; ,
Tl�REFORE, BE IT RESC�VED That the proper city officers are
herel�r. authorized to p�y the employees who performed such work in
accordance With the provisions of the Councilts sa].ary ordinance�
