WHEREAS� there is presently pendin.g before the Interstate -
. Commerce Commission a petition by Soo Line Railroad Company
� requestin.g authority to discontinue operation of Passenger Trains
9 and 10� called the "Winnipeger"� between St. Paul� Minnesda
and Noyes� Minnesota; and
WHEREAS� the proposed abandonmen.t of service� if allowed�
would eliminate passenger �rain �ervice for many commwa.ities�
which would be a great inconvenience to the communities of the
State of Minnesota and to the City of S�aint Paul� and the �ity of
Saint Paul has a vital interest in �he continued operation of
said passenger trains; and
WHEREAS� the �ity of sain.t Paul has an interest in the
maintenance of railroad passenger service as adequate and complete
as possible and feasible and� specifically, the continuance of
said passenger trains Nos. g and 10 between St. Paul� Minnesota � �
and Noyes� Minnesota� therefore be it
RESOLVED� That the �City of Saint Paul put of record i`ts
opposition to the proposed elimin.ation of the �oo Line Railroad
Company passengers trains Nos. g and 10 on the ground� among other
�, reasons� that such service is vital �o public convenience and
� necessity; that it would impair the accessibility of the City of
Sain.t Paul� its cultural� tourist and business attractions; and
that it would impair the economic and �ocial growth of ,the ��ity
of �ain.t Paul and the State of Minnesota at large; and be it

� FURTHER RESOLVED� That the Corporation Counsel of the City ,
� of Saint �aul be designated to represent the ��ity� s inter�sts
before the Interstate Commerce Commission and intervene in opposition
to such petition� and present evidenc�� including this resolution�
in opposition to such petition. •
