WHEREAS, the American Cancer Society invited Councilmember Dave Thune to speak at the Entertainers
For A Smoke Free Milwaukee event in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, held of Febniary 28, 2006, for the purpose of
promoting a smoking ban for the City of Milwaukee; and
WHEREAS, Councilmember Thune attended and spoke at said event as part of his duties as a
councilmember for the City of Saint Paul paying $518.00 in city fixnds for air faze; and
WHEREAS, the American Cancer Society offered to reimburse the city $518.00 for the cost of air fare for
Councilmember Thune to attend said event.
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the City Charter, does certify that upon acceptance of
the gift from the American Cancer Society there are funds of $ 518.00 available for appropriation in excess
of those estimated in the 2006 Budget
WHEREAS, the Mayor recommends the following changes to the 2006 Budget:

28 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council on behalf of the citizens of Saint Paul,
29 accepts the contriburion from the American Cancer Society.

31 FINALLY RESOLVED, that the City Council determines this to have public purpose and approves these
32 changes to the 2006 Budget.
