WHEREAS, Ray Perlman was bom and raised in St. Paul, he formed Perlman Associates, a
sales organization selling beauty supplies to the trade; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Perlman established his office at 2284 West 7�' Street in St. Paul, and
operated out of that location for many, many yeazs; and
WHEREAS, Today, at 83 yeazs of age, Ray Perlman, manages his own philanthropic
endeavors. He donates to many causes, especially The Salvation Army, Mount Zion Temple,
and The Sholom Community Alliance; and
WHEREAS, Hany Kay was a St. Paul industrialist during the1960's, 70's and 80's; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Kay was a self made man, who lived most of lus adult life in St. Paul
rnnning Northem Potato, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Kay's interest in philanthropy led him to found the Harry Kay Foundation
benefiting many with grants given to organizataons including The Children's Museum in St.
Paul, The St. Paul United Jewish Fund, the University Of Minnesota Department Of
Surgery, Minnesota Medical Foundation, The Jewish Community Relations Council, and the
Sholom Home in St. Paul.
BE IT RESOLVED, that the north-south roadway between W Seventh Street and Adrian
Street is hereby given the name of Perlman Street, previously named River V alley Road.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the north-south roadway between Perlman Street,
(previously named River Valley Road), and Victoria Street is hereby given the name of Kay
Avenue, previously named Overlook Drive.
