Car Allowance Committee provided for in Section 5 has reported its findings and
recommendations to the Council in a letter dated April 1, 1965, and
Whereas, the Council has made a study of said report and recommendations; therefore

` The Car Mileage Committee met in the office of the City Architect, Robert L.
Ames, on Monday morning, March 29, 1965 at 9s00 A.M. The following members
were presents Mes$rs. Ames, Behrens, Brown, Kelley, McNeil, Merrill, Shanley
and Simonson.
SAINT PAUL PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Mileage Request forms received March 9, March 12, March 16 and March 18, signed
by J. T. Lackner, Assistant Superintendent, contained the following requests:
Add:
Priscilla Rugg, Consultant EOA C-$25 max. Eff. March 1, 1965
This request was made because Miss Rugg has been ur�der Plan A while she was
Coordinator of Adult Homemaking Education. Since Jar�uary 1, she has assumed the
duties as Consultant in the Economic Opportunity program and it would be more de-
sirable for her to be on Plan C.

This request was made due to the fact that Mr. Capistrant transports carpenters'
tools and materials to and from various shops.

This request was made as Mr. Rubbert also transports carpente�s' tools and materials
to and from various shops.

Water Department requested the following:

It has beer� found that the mileage traveled by Mr. Jovanovich now warrants only

The Committee recommends that this request be granted.

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
A letter dated March 23, 1965, signed by John J. Eichinger, Administrative Assistant
and approved by Milton Rosen, Commissioner, requested the followings

Richard R. Hunt from C-$6� to C-$75 max. Eff. March 1, 1965
This request was made due to the fact that Mr. Hunt drives a considerable amount of
mileage.
The Committee recommends that this request be granted.
CORPORATION COUNSEL'S OFFICE
Add:
Robert E. O�Connell C-$75 max. Eff. March 1, 1965
A letter from Stephen Maxwell, dated February 25, 1965 requested Robert E. 0'Connell,
Speeial Assistant Corporation Counsel, be placed on Plan C mileage, $50 maximum
from February 1, through April 30. This letter was received at 4:24 p.m. in the
City Architect�s office and a mileage meeting had been held that morning. Mr. Merrill
made the motion that Mr. 0'Connell receive $150 mileage for two months - March and
April - inasmuch as the letter was received too late to be considered for February.
The request was amended to read $75 a month starting March lst.
The Committee recommends that this request be granted.
DETENTION AND OORRECTIONS AUTHORITY
A letter from Bernard M. Troje, dated February 25, 1965 requested the followings
Remove:
Mariano Stella, Guard C-$25 max. Eff. January 15, 1965
Mr. Stella left their employ of January 15, 1965 and Mr. Troje recommended his name
be removed as of that date. His last mileage check covered only the first half of
January.
This request is recommended by the Committee.

DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE
A letter from James J. Dalglish, dated March 26s 1965 requested the followings
Add:
William Donovan, Assistant Valuations Engineer C-$75 max. Eff. March 1, 1965
This request was made due to the fact that Mr. Donovan has assumed the duties of
Eltor Dehn who is on extended sick leave. Mr. Thomas Kelley recommended he be re-
moved from any other mileage first. A motion was made and carried.
It is �ecommended by the Committee that this request be granted. ,
All of these requests are recommended for favorable action.
