Wf�REAS, The Navy Island Bridge in the City of St. Paul was severely
damaged in the recent flood and requires extensive repairs; and .
WHEREAS, The Council of the City of St. Paul adopted a motion
April 29, 1965 authorizing the Chiefl Engineer o� the City o� St. Paul to
proceed with the necessary plans for the repairs of the Navy Island Bridge;
and
WHEREAS, It is desired that the spans of repa,ired bridge be shortened
to such a length that sa3.d spans may be removed during �i.ture periods of
high water; and
WHEREA.S, It is required, because o� the change in horizontal clearance
Purnished by sa,id repaired bridge, that a permit be obtained fr� the
Secretary of the Army an.d the Department of Conservation, State of Minnesota;

RESOLVED, That the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized
and directed to make application, for said permit for repa3rs to the Navy
Island Bridge," -�o the Secretary of' the Ar�y through the Corps of Engineers
and to the Depa,rtment of Conservation, State of Minnesota. �
