To assign personnel to garbage collection routes and be responsible for their work. To make reports and recommendations. To requisition and account for supplies and materials used in the collection of garbage. To direct the cleaning and maintenance of garbage trucks. To do manual work in existing tunnels and shafts. Minimum qualifications: Must be physically able to perform sustained hard manual labor and must be at least 18 but less than 40 years of age. 223063 • Title of class: SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC RECREATION Duties and responsibilities: 223063 Under administrative direction, to serve as executive officer of the Division of Recreation in the Department of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings; to plan, organize and administer a comprehensive and diversified program of public recreation; to direct and coordinate the activities of the staff; to carry out and control budgetary, personnel, public relations and related administra- tive policy; to provide direction and unity to the division's program and the staff engaged in carrying it out; and to perform related work as assigned. Examples of work performed: To develop and administer a broad recreational program of activities and services for children, youth and adults, taking into consideration the resources and needs of the City.
