WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundation was formed in 2005 to provide a funding vehicle for
business and ciric leaders to strengthen the efforts of our local police department to continue to
provide the outstanding public safety programs; and
W�IEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundarion benefits the people of Saint Paul by working with the Sain
Paul Police Department to promote public safety in the City of Saint Panl; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundafion is a SOlc3 organization whose board is comprised of acfivc
citizens in the community, committed to providing funding to the police department; and
WHEREAS, the foundation has contributed funds to the Saint Paul Police Athleric League, the S.W.A.T.
Team, the K-9 Unit, and many critical programs in the department; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Grand Ball is a major fundraising endeavor of the foundation; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul Police Foundarion is a city sponsored
organization and the Saint Paul Police Foundation Ball is a city-sponsored event; and
FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED, that Chief John Harrington is hereby named as a designee of the Mayo
solicit fuuds For this organization and event as provided in City of Saint Paul Charter 41.04.
