RESOLUTION
CITY OF SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA
��
WHEREAS, Merrick Community Services under its original name, Christ Child Center, began serving the
residents of Saint Paul's Lower East Side more than 98 years ago; and,
WHEREAS, Arlington Hills Lutheran Church began reaching out to meet the needs of East Siders in 1909; and,
WHEREAS, Arlington Recreation Center was created as a youth sports facility, meeting place, and a
community hub; and,
WHEREAS, these three organizations have formed a public/private partnership to more effectively meet the
needs of an increasingly diverse and dynamic populace, encourage development, and spur the economic
revitalization of the Payne/Maryland neighborhood; now,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council does hereby authorize the Saint Paul Parks
and Recreation Department and the Saint Paul Public Works Department to participate in discussions to address
the Payne/Maryland neighborhood.
