ORDINANCE NO.
An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 7607, entitled:
"An ordinance fixing the duties and responsibilities
and the minimum qualifications for. the various classes of
positions in the Classified Service of the City,"
approved February 13, 1935, as amended. This is an emergency ordinance
rendered necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and
safety.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN: }
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 7607, approved February 13,
1935, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking
out the specifications for the title "Principal Accountant's, and,by sub-
stituting in lieu thereof the following specifications:

Duties and responsibilities:
Under administrative directioje to be responsible for all accounting
for the Board of Education;/following the accounting policies of
the Comptroller,' to be respo'npible for all accounting for the
Department of Public Works; To perform difficult and responsible
auditing and budgeting work for the Comptroller; and to perform
related work as assigned.
Examples of work performed:
To supervise the keeping of general ledgers and appropriation
accounts.
To design and install departmental accounting systems.
To make and supervise cost studies.
To make. redommendations as to expenditures controlled by
the budget.
To supervise the making of financial surveys and the preparation
of the budget.
To assist.in making use of electronic data processing where
= feasible. -
To act as consultant to the department head on financial and
budgetary questions.
To supervise all related functions such as payroll preparation,
inventory control, assessment preparation, etc.
In the office of -the Comptroller:
To assist in the preparation of the Annual Budget.
To make audits or studies of any of the accounting systems
used by the City Departments,
Minimum qualifications:
College graduation with courses in accounting, and seven years'
experience in accounting, at least two of which must have
