WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is a city rich in the contributions of citizens from every culture, history, and walk
of life; and
3 WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul states in Chapter 183 of its Legislative Code that ..."The public policy of Saint
4 Paul is to foster equal opportunity for all to obtain employment, education, real properiy, public accommodations,
5 public services, contract, and franchise without regard to their race, creed, religion, sex, sexual or affectipnal
6 orientation, color, national origin, anceshy, familial status, age, disability, marital status, or status with regard to
7 public assistance, and strictly in accord with their individual merits as human beings.", and
8 WHEREAS, one of Saint Paul's places ofworshi�rLiberry Temple Outreach Ministries—has recently been the target
9 of racist vandalism and has suffered the pain of a hate crime, which violates the dignity of every citizen of this city;
10 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul condemns this and every form ofracism, intolerance,
11 and bigotry; and
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul reaffirms that bigotry and racism is not tolerated in our
13 city, in our schools, in our businesses, our homes, or our communities; and
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that whereas history tends to repeat itself, it is important to recall and to teach those
15 too young to remember about the histories of people subjected to any and all forms of racism and bigotry; and

1 BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that it is our intent to work with members and leaders of our communities to ensure
2 that the lessons leamed from the past aze remembered and will cause us to continue to stand for the dignity, safety,
3 and security of every citizen.
