WHEREAS, It is necessary to have specially trained men to act as golf professionals
at the Como, Highland and Phalen golf courses, and
WHEREAS, Such special training requires:
1. Abi.lity to repair golf clubs and advise in their use;
2. Ability to oversee and regulate the playi_n.g upon an assigned course;
- 3. •Ability to advise in connection with the construction and mai.ntenance
of fairways and bunkers;
4. Ability to organize, train and direct caddies;
5. Experience in. profes sional golf work and in teaching golf; and
WHEREA.S, Frank Fiorito, Winton Christianson and Mitch Tardiff possess the
required ability and h�ve the required training, and the said Frank Fiorito,
Winton Christianson and Mitch Tardiff are willing to enter into contracts
with the City of Saint Paul to act as golf professionals at the Como,
, Highland and�Phalen courses, respectively;�the professionals at P'halen
and Como will receive $2, 500, respectively, for the season beginni.ng
April 1, 1965, and ending October 31, 1965; and due to the increased
� � " � golf plap at Highland golf course, the professional there will receive -
$3, 000 for the same period; the professionals at all three courses wi11
in addition have the privilege•of�retai.ning receipts for_teaching and for
the sale and repair of golf equipment; and
WHEREA.S, The Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings has
recommended that contracts be entered into with the said Frank Fiorito,
Winton Christianson and Mitch Tardiff upon the aforesaid basis, with the
provision that the contracts may be cancelled by the Commissioner of Parks
and Recreaiion and Public Buildings for cause, upon twenty-four hours�
written notice to the respective golf professionals; therefore, be it

RESOLVED; That the Council concurs in the recommendation o�, the Commissioner of
Parks and Recreation and Public Bui.ldings,-and the Corpo'ration Counsel

is hereby authorized to draw the contracts,therefor, and th.e proper City
� officers are authorized to execute the sar�°e on behalf of the City.
