Public Works Sew Utility
 1CYi:1
DATE:
Parkway Lift Station Property
August 8, 2003
r,`t;
.. L (:_,
As we briefly.discussed on Thursday, the Sewer Utility and City of Maplewood in a joint project
have recently abandoned the Parkway sanitary sewer lift station. The lift station property located at
the south west corner of Pazkway Drive and Larpenteur Avenue is no longer needed by the Sewer
Utility.
The top portion of the lift station was removed to a depth of approximately 9 feet. The remaining
portion of the station below approximately 9 feet was abandoned in place. Please see plan sheet 8 of
19 and Existing Lift Station Removals detail attached.
Prior to the abandonment project, Sewer Utility staff had met with I1EP staff. Meeting notes
attached. The property has potential as a single family home site. In anticipation of potential
development, sewer and water have been stubbed into the site. Please see plan sheet 10 of 19
attached. LIEP advises that a disclosure on the deed to the property be recorded indicating how the
remaining portion of the lift station was abandoned in place and its location on the property. In
addition, the future developer of the property would need to provide plans for how they would
deveIop the lot and provide appropriate engineering to support anticipated loads for the structures
they intend to build.
The Sewer Utility desires to offer this site for private ownership and / or development.
Attached is a map and property record identifying the parcel. This information was obtained from
City of Saint Paul and Ramsey County GEOSPARC.
Staff has observed that the property boundaries as shown on the Ramsey County property map differ
when compared to the Public Works standazd map. Staff speculates that additional right of way
acquired for Ramsey County's improvement of Larpenteur Ave. from Edgerton St. To Parkway
Drive, Project No. S.A.P. No. 62-630-15 may not have been properly recorded.
Please begin the process for transferring ownership of this property.
Please call me at 266-6149 if you have any questions or concerns.
