WHEREAS, many of the activities of the Department of Public Works _
such as snow removal, street cleaning, street oiling and the maintenance of
streets are scheduled on advance weather forecasts furnished at this time by
a commercial weather sernice bureau, and
WHEREAS, the Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. now offers a
"Department of Commerce U. S. Weather Bureau Airport Station" teletype
service at a cost considerably lower than the co�ercial service now in use,
and
WHERBAS, the Department of Public Works desires to compare both
services for a period of thirty (30) days by the installation of a teletype
at a cost not to exceed Sixty Five ($65.00) Ilollars, at the end of which time
a decision will be made as to the retention of the present system or the
adoption of the new system, ,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Department of Public Works
be authorized to order the installation of the teletype from Northwestern Bell
Telephone Co. as outlined above for a period of thirty (30) days, the cost of
said installation to be }�aid from the Sanitation Administration Fund.
