1 WHEREAS, in 2005, ffie Saint Paul and RauLSey County Friends of the Pazks and Trails are celebrating the'u 20�' anniversary
2 of existence; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul and Ranisey County Friends of the Pazks and Trails have been a major collaborator in the
preservation and development of pazks, open space and natural resources; and
5 WHEREAS, the major accomplislunents of the Saint Paul and Ranuey Counry Friends of the Pazks and Trails include:
6 • a"Plan for Pazks, TraIls and Open Space"
7 • Establishment of Saint Paul Pazks Commission.
8 • Establishment of Ran�sey County Pazk Commission
9 •"No Net Loss" of Parkland in Saint Paul and Ramsey County Charters
10 • 20,000 Trees planted throughout Ramsey County.
11 WHEREAS, more accomplislunents made by the Saint Pau1 and Raxnsey County Friends of the Pazks and Txails include:
12 • Led efforts for the Gateway Trail connecrion to downtown Saint Paul
13 • Restored five and one half miles of Mississippi Rivex bluffs to ecological health
14 • I,ed the efforts to have MNDOT build a pedestrian/bicycle tunnel under the ramps for I-35E as the new I-35E
15 bridge was built
16 • Worked with Metro Airport Commission to assure wetland migration was completed at Pickeral Lake to
17 compensate for filing at the Downtown airport
18 • Prepared and published a Pazk D'uectory for all public lands within Ranuey County.
19 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul and Ramsey County Friends of the Parks and Trails be
2 0 congratulated and commended for their dedicated efforts.
