Byrne, Mayor and Members of the City Council] A Subjecti 2465% Territorial Road Gentlemen: The following is a report of the Building Department on conditions of the property known as 2465% Territorial Road, owned by Mrs. Marjor- ie Schmidt, 2465 Territorial Road. The legal description of the property is, Lot 19, Block 1, Rearrangement in D. H. Hunt *s Addition to St. Anthony Park, Inspection was made September 23., 1966. The building is a single family dwelling, of frame construction, one story in height, ap- proximately 33 feet wide by 32 feet 6 inches long by 18 feet high, located on the rear of the lot, and is vacant and unsecured. EXTERIOR The exterior siding of asphalt imitation brick is loose, sections are pulled away and the sub- sheathing shows evidence of rotting The porch is badly rotted and is sagging out of shape.. The roof over the shed addition has rotted considerably and is sagging. The chimney is in poor condition and does not continue to a footing, but is supported by wall brackets. BASEMENT There is only a partial basement, approximately 12 feet by 12 feet, and the floor has many_ holes in it.. The stairs to the basement have loose risers and are very poorly built. The access to the stairs is through a trap door in the floor. There are large holes in the foundation walls and there is evidence the joists supporting` the first floor have rotted.. The bathroom and kitchen floors show evidence of serious rotting. The rooms are littered with debris. The plaster walls are cracked and loose throughout the entire build- ing. Both the plumbing and electrical systems are in very poor condition and in need of extensive repair. Therefore, it is the conclusion of the Bureau of Public Buildings that by reason of inadequate maintenance, dilapidation, physical damage, unsanitary condition and abandonment that this building constitutes a hazard to public health, safety and welfare. It is the further recommendation of the City Architect that the Council hold .a public hearing at ten ol`clock A.M. on Thursday, October 27, 1966 to consider the advisability and necessity of ordering the correction or wrecking and removal of the structure on the subject property, and that the City Architect, on behalf of the City Council, notify by mail the record owner of the property in question at the last known address, as well as other interested persons of record, of the date and time of this hearing. e rul yo S), o ert L.
