• WHEREAS, Robert L. Ames, the City Architect, has requested the
City Council to hold. a public hearing to consider any complaints about
the.expense incurred by the City of Saint Paul in removing a dangerous
structure at 140 East Robie Street, more particularly described as:
West 43 feet of East 139 feet of Lot 1, Block 900 Town of West Slifnt
Paul; and
WHEREAS, it appears that the last known record owners of the
property are Theodore H. Beckermann, c/o 1123 Grand Avenue, St. Paul (deceased)
and Grace Beckermann, et al, 1123 Grand Avenue, St. Paul; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saint Paul hold
a public hearing in the Council Chamber at 10 o'clock a.m. on the 27th
day of October, 1966, to consider any complaints about the expense incurred
by the City of Saint Paul and to confirm the amount thereof; be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Architect notify by mail the
record owners of the property in question at the last known address, as
well as other interested persons of record.

Gentlemen:
A statement of expense has been filed with the City Clerk on this
date for the purpose of creating a lien on the property known as
140 E. Robie Street, described as the West 43 feet of East 139
feet of Lot 1, Block 90, Town of West Saint Paul, Minnesota.
This property is owned by:
Theo. H. Beckermann,c /o 1123 Grand Avenue, St. Paul (deceased)
Grace Beckermann, et al, 1123 Grand Avenue, St. Paul
In the matter of condemnation of the dangerous structure thereon,
the following resolutions were adopted by the City Council:
C.F. 223978, adopted by the Council June 15, 1965, (published
June 19, 1965) set a public hearing at 10 A.M. on July 20, 1965.
C.F. 224606, adopted by the Council July 23, 1965, (published
July 31, 1965) ordered the wrecking by and at the separate cost
and expense of the owner, occupant, or other person in control
thereof.
C.F. 225104, adopted by the Council September 2, 1965, (published
September 4, 1965) directed the Commissioner of Parks And Recrea-
tion And Public Buildings to enter the premises and wreck and
remove the one and one -half story two - family frame dwelling there-
on, and do any and all things therein necessary for the protection
of life, limb, and adjdning property.
The Contract Committee, on March 29, 1966, awarded the contract
for wrecking to Minnesota Lumber & Wrecking Corporation for the
sum of $694.00, in accordance with specifications and Informal
Bid No. 9485.

C.F, 229470,adopted by the Council July 13, 1966, (published
July 16, 1966) provided that the wrecking expense of $694.00,
and expense of the Department of Parks And Recreation And Public
Buildings in connection with the condemnation in the amount of
$105.07, making a total of $799.07, be paid out of Wrecking
Buildings - Demolition Account 0976 -256; and, in the event said
sum proves collectible from the owner, same is to be credited to
0976 -256.
The building has now been satisfactorily wrecked and a registered
bill mailed to the owners.
We are requesting that you hold a public hearing with ten days
notice to consider any complaints about the expenses incurred
and to confirm the amount.
