Marshall 2+30 City Clerk (J _ Building Dear Sir: This is written in response to the application for a permit by the State of Minnesota to construct a 98 car parking lot on the block bounded by Columbus Avenue, Wabasha, Twelfth and Cedar Streets de- scribed as Block 18, Capitol Approach Addition. This matter was considered at the August 18, 1966, Board of Zoning meeting. The property is located in the Capitol Approach and is bounded on the south by the freeway, on the west by the Veteran's Service Building and on the east by the Armory. The staff reported that the plan met the design standards for this type of facility and that the Traffic Engineer has viewed the plan as to Traffic and recommends approval. The Board of Zoning recommends that the application for the permit be denied since a'parking lot fails-to comply with the`long -range program adopted by the Planning Board and Capitol Approach Commission. These plans call for the property to remain as an open, green area and it was so agreed to by the,State. Therefore, the Board of Zoning recommends denial of the application to-construct a parking lot at the above described-location. ' Very truly yours, N. R. Heiden F t -Secretary , NRH :FGI Z.
