Byrne, Mayor and Members of the City Council Subject: 492 Omaha Street Gentlemen: The following is a report of the Building Department on conditions of the property located.at 492 Omaha Street, owned by Mrs. Mary M. (Royce) Fish and Jacob Gingold, Mortgagee. The legal description of the property is: Lot 9, Block 29, Subdivision of Blocks 28 and 29 in Stinson, Brown and Ramsey's Addition to Saint Paul. Inspections were made on July 25, 1966, and the condition of the property as noted at that time is as follows: This building is a two -story single family dwelling which does not have a basement. It is approximately 34 feet wide, 42 feet long and 24 feet high. The condition of the building, as noted on the above date, is that it has been completely damaged by fire. EXTERIOR Approximately one, -third of the roof has collapsed and fallen to the interior of the building.. A large section of chimney is standing unsupported out of-the ruin. The remains of the building, such as they are, are considered to be a serious hazard and in danger of collapse. INTERIOR The interior partitions are entirely burned out. The building has no plumbing system, no electrical system and no heating system. This department has received a letter dated August 11, 1966 from Mrs. Mary M. (Royce) Fish, who indicates she has an interest in the property, and she states that we may hire a contractor to demolish and clean up her property. SJ �u (Hon.. Thomas R. Byrne, Mayor and Members of the City Council) � September 20, 1966 -2- It is the conclusion of the Bureau of Public Buildings that by reason of inadequate maintenance, dilapidation, physical damage, unsanitary condition and abandonment that this building constitutes a hazard to public health, safety and welfare. It is the further recommendation of the City Architect that the Council hold a public hearing at ten ox•clock A.M. on Tuesday, October 11, 1966 to consider the advisability and necessity of ordering the correction or wreck- ing and removal of the structure on the subject property, and that the City Architect, on behalf of the City Council., notify by mail the record owner of the property in question at the last known address, as well as other interested persons of record, of the date and time of this hearing., ery WAMm r obe City Architect SB:gg cc: Fire Prevention Bureau
