RECOGNIZING LLOYD PETERSON
FOR ffiS YEARS OF SERVICE TO
THE DISTRICT 1 COMMUNITY COUNCIL AND THE COMMUNITY
��
WI�REAS, Lloyd Peterson has been an active member of the District 1 neighborhood, having purchased his house
on 5`� Street in 1950 and having operated his business, Cottage Bakery, on Minnehaha Avenue since 1997; and
WF�REAS, Lloyd was elected to the District 1 Community Council Boazd of D'uectors in 1982 and served until
2005, making him the longest tenured boazd member in District I history; and,
WIIEREAS, shortly after his election to the District 1 Board, Lloyd was appointed to the finance committee and
served for many yeazs as the fmance committee chair, ensuring the smooth and stable operation of the organization;
and,
WHEREAS, Lloyd is an unflagging supporter of walk-able communities and worked to require the instailation of
sidewalks in new development projects especially neaz schools, recreation centers, apartments and bus lines; and,
WI�RAS, Lloyd is strong promoter of transit and has campaigned for adequate bus service and usable bus
schedules throughout the city; and,
WHEREAS, Lloyd has been a tireless advocate for fair phone rates and worked for 10 years to eliminate tier rates
for basic phone service; finally succeeding in 1992 when consistent rates were established for all customers within
local ca]ling areas; and,
WIIEREAS, Lloyd has been a loyal community volunteer, donating many hours to the District 1 Cleanup and
Miners Days--which recognized him with the Miners Days Outstanding Citizen Award in 1990;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council recognizes Lloyd Peterson for his many
years of service to District 1 Community Council and thanks him for his many community contributions which have
made Saint Paul a better place in which to live.
