`PHE COUNCIT� OF �'HE CITY OF S9INT PA'FTL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. Definition. Plain elothes poliee offieers
shall mean sworn police officers assigned to the office of the
Chief of Police and the D�tective Division of the B�areau of
Police . Said clothin$ shall include the following i�ems of
apparel only: top Qogts, suits, sport c��s�d t�ousers .

Section 2. From and after Januaryjl, 1967, eacY�
' plain elothea police officer of the Bureau of Police -as herein
def3.ned shall be entitled to and given by the department a
credit allowance in an amount not to exceed that which is .,

authorized by Section �87.08 of the Le�islat3.ve Code of the

- City of Saint Paul� which Qan be used by Y�im' for the purpo�e
� ° of replacement of_ wor� o� �damaged items of apparel as herein
defined. Said al.lowance may be accumulative from year to
• year. Said allowance shall not in any case be used f.or the
purposes as defined in this aection until specific authorization
of the Ch3.ef of Poli�e o� the person or persons authorized by
him to perform suo�i functior�s has been obtained by each police
officer seekin� -use of his eredit allowance . WYien permi�i.on
is granted to any plain clothes officer by the Chief of Police
or sueY� other person as authorized by him to adminiater the
fu.r�d, said police o�'icer s�iall submit to the Ghief of Police,
or sueh other person as authorized by him, a receipt for purchase

Seetio� 3. Ar�y- e�edit remaining in the ae�o�a.nt of
an individ�zal plain clothes police officer at the time of
his separation from aerviee for ar�y cause whatsoever or
transferred to uniformed duty, shall be ea.ncel�.ed. No police
officer shall reaeive any credit allowanee for any period in
whieh� aaid poli�e officer issuspended from service .
Sectior� �+. �he Chief of Police, under the d3reation
of the Commissioner of Publ3.c Safety, is herein �harged with
the administration of thi� f�znd.

Section 5. Each year there shall be an amount set
up in �he budget of the Department of Public Safety to pay

tY�e eos� of the allowances which may be incurred under the
terms of this ordinanee .
Section 6. This ordinance shall ta.l�e effect and be
in force upon its passage, app�oval and .publication.
