WHEREAS, In order to protect the interests of the property owners
against whom the cost of sidewalk woxk is asaessed, by thoroughly inspecting
all phases of construction of sidewalks and by thus obtaining adherence to
the specifications and requirements of the City of St. Paul, and
WHEREAS, The' prasent Engineering and Inspection xate of ten percent
(la%) of the cost of the work done does not p�ovide revenues �rhich make it
possible to acco�plish these objectives, and
WHEREAS, The revenues provided by the tea percent rate will fall
short of ineeting the Department of Public Work��actual expenditures for
sidewalk engineering and inspection work, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That thd Inspection and Engineering costs on assessabl.e woxk
under future sidewalk contracts in Districts 1, ,2 and 3 be increased to
twelve percent (129a) a�.d in District 4, the Downtown District, to fifteen percent
(159'0) of the value of the work constructed.
