1'WHEREAS, on January 5, 1905 the Sisters of Saint 7oseph of Carondelet, in their wisdam and with the support and
2 counsel of Bishop John Ireland of the City of Saint Paul, opened an institution of hi,,rher learning dedicated to educating
3 women of all faiths and backgrounds to lead and influence; and
4 WHEREAS, the facuity, alumnae, students and staff, along with their many family members and friends, have remained
5 faithful to the vision of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Cazondelet for 100 years; and
6 WHEREAS, the College of Saint Catherine, with a presence today in Saint Pau] and Minneapolis, Minnesota, has and
7 continues to have a profound effect in improving the quality of life of Minnesotans, Americans, and indeed peoples
8 around the world, through the efforts of its alumnae, now numbering over 30,000; and
9 WFIEREAS, continuing to combine academic excellence with a commitment to under represented fema]e populations,
10 including many first-generation students is an ongoing mission of the College of Saint Catherine; now therefore be it
11 RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul affn�ms and applauds the efforts of the College of Saint
12 Catherine, her faculty, students, staff, alumnae and friends, including the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet, for their
13 contributions to education and the betterment of all huxnan kind and on the occasion of their centennial year; and be it
14 finally
15 RESOLVEA, that Wednesday, 7anuary 19, 2005, is hereby known as
