WHEREAS, The Conm�ittee on Lands, composed of the Mayor, the
Purchasing Agent, and 'the Commissioner of Public Works of the City of
Saint Pau1, has secured an agreement for the purchase of that certain
property described as follows:
The West one-half of the Northwest Quarter (WzNWµ) of
Lot three (3) in Irvines Addition of Outlots to the Town �
of St. Pau1, including any portion of any street or alley
adjacent thereto, vacated or to be vacated, acc.
WHEREAS, The property described therein is necessary for the
opening and widening of the Arch-Pennsylvania Highway from Lafayette
Road to Payne Avenue, and the price at which the property may be pur-
chased is at the total amount of $13,500.00, a fair and reasonable
price according to the appraisal obtained by the Committee on Lands; and
WHEREAS, Said committee has recorronended the purchase of said
property at the price stated above, as evidenced by the letter of said
Committee submitted herewith; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That pursuant to Section 303 of the Charter of the
City of Saint Paul, the Council of the City of Saint Paul does hereby
authorize the purchase of the land described as:

adjacent thereto, vacated or to be vacated, acc. �
RESOLVED Further that the proper city officials are hereby
authorized and directed to pay to Stanley A. and Hazel M. Hakala,
vendors of said property, the sum of $13,500, said sum to be paid
to the aforesaid vendors from PIR Fund 6000, to be reimbursed from
Bond Fund No. 7200-ST-32, up4n their furnishing evidence of good
marketable title in said vendors, and the total payment to be made
upon tender by said parties of an appropriate warranty deed con-
veying title to said property to the City of Saint Paul.

Gentlemen:
The City of Saint Paul, acting through its Valuation Engineer,
has negotiated to purchase certain property described as
follows:
The West one-half of the Northwest Quarter
(WZNWµ) of Lot three (3) in Irvines Addition
of Outlots to the Town of St. Pau1, including
any portion of any street or alley adjacent
thereto, vacated or to be vacated, acc. '
The owners of the above described �lands, Stanley A. and Hazel
M. Hakala, have accepted an offer �tendered them by the City
in the amount of $13,500 as compensation for the sale of the
said land to �he City. ,
This property, including land and buildings, is needed by the
City of Saint Pau1 for right-of-way for the Arch-Pennsylvania
Highway. In view of the reasonable price for which it can be
purchased, said price being the appraised fair and reasonable
market value thereof, we, the Committee on Lands do recorrQnend
to the Council of the City of Saint Paul -that it authorize the
purchase of said land in lieu. of condemnation proceedings at
the price of $13,500 as negotiated with the owners.
