WHER�AS, The �'ollowing descr3.bed lands, being Lots l, 2, 3, �, and
13, Block 34, Rice a.nd Irvines Addition to Saint Pa.ul, are presently `
under jurisdiction of the City of St. Pa.ul by virtue of a use estate deed,
issued by the Co�nissioner of Ta.xation on August 28, 1966, i.n complia.nce
with Minnesota Statutes, Section 282.01, subd. l, for use as a fee paxk-
ing lot; and
w�zFQ�, The City has received n�erous requests to purcha.se or
lease said land f�arn private business firms in the ivnnediate area, but
at the same time is desirous of retaining control over the sub�ect lands
until the Auditorium expansion ha,s been resolved, insofax as land needs
axe concerned; ,
NOW, TAEREF'ORE, BE IT RESOLVED That upon reco�endation of the
Co�.ttee on La.nds, the sub�ect la.nds be reconveyed by the City of St.
Pa.ul to the State of Minnesota and that said Tand be then of`Pered for short-
term lease by the Office of the La.nd Ca�unissioner for a period not to ex-
ceed three yeaxs, subject to a ninety-day cancellation clause, and sub- �
� ject to approval by the Boaxd of Ra.msey County CoYmniss�.oners.

Gentlemen:
RE: Lots l, 2, 3, �+, and 13, Block 34, Rice & Irvines Add.
The above described lands, which ha,ve forfeited to the State of Min-
nesota for nonpayment of taxes, axe presently under the jurisdiction
of the City of St. Paul by vistue of a use estate deed issued by the
Co�nissioner of Taxation on August 28, 1966, in compliance with Min-
nesota; Statutes, Section 282.01, subd. l, for use as a fee paxking
- lot.
The City is under considerable pressure from nearby property owners
regaxdi.ng the possible disposition of these lands for private use and,
at the same time, is desixous of retaining said lands until the Audi-
torium expansion has been resolved, insofar as land needs are con-
cerned.
It is, therefore, the recrnmnendation of the Committee on Lands tha.t
the subject property be reconveyed to the State of Minnesota and that
said land be then offered at a public sale for short-term lease, not
to exceed three� yeaxs, subject to a ninety-day cancellation cla.use,
and subject to approva.l by the Board of Ra.msey County Co�issioners.
It is f�artYier reco�ended that a copy of this report be submitted to
the Boaxd of Ramsey County Co�issioners for approval.
