RESOLUTION ACCEPTING GRANTS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL
FOR THE REMEDIATION OF THE ISLAND STATION, WEST SIDE FLATS, TAE LOWRY, AND
RIVER BLUFF SITES
WAEREAS, the City Council on November 3, 2004, by Resolurion Number 04-1047 authorized the Director
of the Deparhnent of Planning and Economic Development to apply to the Department of Employment and
Economic Development and the Metropolitan Council for grants to remediate the Island Station, West Side
Flats, the Lowry, and River Bluff sites; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), from its Contamination
Cleanup Crrant Program, approved a$919,560 grant for the West Side Flats site and a$246,654 grant for the
River Bluff site, for a total of $1,166,214 from DEED; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council, from its Taac Base Revitalization account of its Livable Communities
Program, approved a$500,000 grant for the Island Station site, a$213,705 grant for the West Side Flats site,
and a$300,000 grant for the Lowry site, for a total of $1,013,705 from the Met Council; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does hereby
certify that $2,179,919 in funds are available for appropriation in excess of those estimated in the 2005 budget
and recommends the following changes to the 2005 budget:
